The School of Arts Summer Showcase at Milton Keynes College is always a highlight of the year. It involves an intense run up period and long hours that culminate in a strong, vibrant and diverse exhibition from our talented students. In June 2019 the exhibition was held in MK Gallery which was a wonderful opportunity for our graduating students.
This year there are no nails, hammers, velcro strips or white paint to create our exhibition. It has been an entirely different journey in curating. With a move to remote learning in the spring of 2020 consideration was required for a new, fresh approach to how we would celebrate and display our students work. An idea was pitched to our Head of Department; a virtual platform to showcase the wonderful work of our students, to give them something to aim towards, a place to share their ideas and talents, we didn’t know exactly how it would work just yet but were determined to realise this project. Through challenges come innovation and new learning and reflection. Showcasing our students work on this platform has inspired us as a department to take this forward and run a virtual show alongside our tangible exhibition in the future.
The Graduate Showcase 2020 shares the work of Foundation Art & Design, HNC and HND courses in Art Practice, Graphics & Photography, and second year students from Level 3 courses in Art & Design, Graphic Design, Fashion & Clothing and Photography.
We hope you enjoy your time in the virtual gallery.
